I spent 3 days with my team in Turkey and INSISTED that no one open their laptops.

I wanted 3 days of us simply being together.

We could talk about technical things,
Discuss ongoing projects,
And do work-related things,

But there were no laptops and no deep work.

No coding, no designing user interfaces, no spreadsheets.

Instead, we were in various outdoor settings on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, from a beach to a cliff-side villa, discussing work more conceptually.

It gave us the fresh perspective we needed on everything we were doing.

We were able to take a step back, look at things from a higher level, and better understand the bigger picture.

At the end of the 3 days, we returned to our work reenergized, full of fresh ideas, and more excited than ever to continue building.

Not to mention the camaraderie we built during this time, over shared meals and laughter.

So, next time you plan a team gathering, consider leaving the laptops behind.

You might be surprised at how much you can accomplish.
